My grid tie system has a 500 volt DC output that I want to tie through a transfer switch to my charging system (Midnite 150) to charge my 22kw lithium battery's. How do I do this as the Midnite has a input voltage of only 150 volts DC? More than one controlers? My goal is to have both Battery back up and Grid tie with the throw of one switch.

First...What tranfer switch can handle 500 VDC?
You need a 600V MPPT controller (Schneider, Morningstar)
You need a 600V DC breaker to use as a transfer switch, to energize the 600V MPPT controller, Manually.
The GT inverter will shutdown without the grid and will effectively turnoff its HV DC input.
When grid is restored, you will have to manually switch the 600VDC breaker OFF
You need an AC 240V transfer switch to connect your battery inverter to your house wiring and disconnect the grid
It's unlikely you can find these switches in a single ganged configuration

Please note that some grid tie inverters are not isolated from the grid. If that is what you have , do switch both panel positive and negative leads when switching from grid tie to off grid charge controller. these systems MUST BE isolated from each other.....
The Sunny Boy TL Series is an example of the type , The TL is transformerless and p.v. Input is connected to AC output through the circuitry
Schneider electric does make double pole double throw transfer switches that are rated at 600 volts DC and AC , totally suitable for your use.
Wondering a ballpark price for that 600VDC DPDT traasfer switch aswell as it's physcial size???
The Schneider transfer switch is huge, bigger than the classic or your grid tie inverter. Won't find that at home cheepo, it's a distributor item. I get mine from Electrical Distributors, but I do not know who is the Schnieder Square D distributor for your area. Seimens also markets such a transfer switch, it too is "industrial".

Sounds like a 240 VAC transfer switch like thoses at Home Depot...600 VDC is a whole lot different...600 volts is one spec, then being DC at 600 volt makes it a double whammy...one size does not fit all...
