Title: Forum Search question for admins of Forum
Post by: ClassicCrazy on May 10, 2020, 01:59:00 PM
When I do a forum search it only works properly if I go to the very first forum home page.
It won't work well  if you are on  a topic page because it only searches within that one page and not on the whole site.
Do any of the Midnite Forum admins know why this is or if it can be changed in a setting ?
I often suggest people do a search but they say it won't work - and it doesn't unless from first page.
Also the search expires when you click on a link so if you get a bunch of results you have to go back and type in the search all over again instead of  just being able to back up to search results .
I am just curious if this is a setting that can be changed or just a forum software thing that needs to be lived with ?
Thanks,
Larry

I will look into this, I am not sure if thats just how SMF works or if there are settings I can tweak

You may have good luck just letting Google do the search.

That's what I use when looking for documents on the www.midnitesolar.com site.

yeah maybe - I never used google to search for stuff on the forums before. Seems simple enough if it can find the same info in all the discussions.
