Title: midnite classic for 1000W PMG alternator?
Post by: Boiyomo Epinam on June 18, 2020, 09:59:11 AM
Hi there,

I intend to use a midnite classic with a 1000W PMG alternator. which model would be suitable for this. I'm planning to use bride rectifier to rectify the AC from the alternator which I'll be getting from homemade pelton wheel driven by water. using 24V battery bank @ 300AH.
Is this sufficient enough to fully charge the battery bank? Should I add another charging source like solar panels to same charge controller? Can someone give me hints if you've already had a set-up similar to my planned approach?

This should be fine as long as the Classic won't be exposed to too high of input voltage which would typically happen when un-loaded.

One of the HYDRO modes may be best for this application.

Thanks for the reply. I may have to test out the alternator before deciding which one of the classic models to use.
