Title: Brat charging question
Post by: qrper on July 12, 2020, 06:52:35 PM
Okay...

Question about the brat.

When charging, the wires to/from the PV, do they carry the full current of the battery?

For example, if someone would short out the PV input wires, would the battery dump its current into the PV side of the controller? Or, only the short circuit current of the PV panels?

The old school PWM controllers always had a 'blocking diode' that would prevent that from happening.

I know that a pair of FET back to back will serve the same function as a diode, and I wonder if the Brat does that as well.

Trying to determine what size fuses to put in the system

Just the ISC of the modules unless there was some major failure.
