Title: Bornay 13+
Post by: Mike H on December 02, 2020, 12:47:38 PM
I have a Bornay 13+ on an 80 foot Bergey tower. It is a 1.5K AC turbine.  It has been up since last year and has worked great.
It comes with its own controller and I did not like it much. The interface is in Spanish, they have added English but I have not upgraded it yet.
I would like to use a Midnite Solar clipper but I was told the clipper will not work on this turbine.
So the turbine works great, can anyone tell me why a clipper would not work on it?  I think it has to do with voltage but I'm not clear on that.

WoW, I have not heard that name Bornay in many years !

Well, I might be able to look this turbine up but not sure if it is AC or DC or what the nominal voltages are.

We have AC and DC clippers.  The AC clippers (preferred) are 3-phase rectifier and 3 -phase triacs with 3 phase dump resistors.

These are good up to around 300 V DC out maximum, so the peak voltages of the turbine would have to be around that voltage for it to work.

Is your Bornay a 500 or 600V turbine maybe ?
