Title: Making Some Rosie Transformer Wire..Video
Post by: onanparts on November 24, 2021, 02:31:43 PM
This is how the 30 AWG wire gets braided up for use in the engineering lab Rosies and maybe a few Beta Rosies...:) There are 12 strands that make up the wire. That is then doubled up and braided a 2nd time. The plan next week is to try and get 24 strands pulled and braided at once without any problems and eliminate the need to double braid. This video is of the first time using a more compact wire rack. Worked flawlessly! That's Patrick, Andy's Tech, doing all the "easy" work.....:)

Simple and effective, interesting.  How many Rosies worth of wire is that?

So simple a caveman could do it! :) Each Rosie has about 20' of the wire X two transformers so maybe 10-12. I measured the length of Bldg 10 recently but forgot to make a note of it...between 200'-300' or so. I'll measure again when we try spooling up 24 strands at a time next week.

We pulled 24 strands yesterday with no issues. A much better final result over the double braided 12 strands! Eliminated lots of gaps!

A short vid and a few pics...:)

The rolls of wire ?   Probably quite a few ?

Not 100% sure though.

Hmmm...how many? Each roll is 9.2 Lbs. Might weigh the wire used for each Rosie this week. Guessing not too much weight per transformer. The spool rack has about 220 Lbs of wire or so when freshly loaded for making up the 24 stranded Litz wire...

It is clear to see the improvement 24 strand wires have over two 12 strand wires.

Can't wait to see them in action!
