TomW

Remember, TomW is getting kind of old and may or may not have Alsheimers and / or CRS (Can't Remember Shtuff).

He doesn't let facts get in the way of a good story, either!  :o

Just sayin..

RossW

I've just put version 1.0.19 on my site for download.

http://support.rossw.net/midnite/

There was an error in 1.0.18 resulting in some "resting reason" codes being displayed incorrectly.
I've also improved the -? (help) screen display to show stuff that's there.
I've added a -W option that takes a URL (without the http://) for people who run their own servers and want to play with capturing data locally. It (should) behave the same as -w, except it'll write to your nominated server.

(Note: anyone doing this will likely want to speak up, to know what to expect!)

Also added some more debugging information, and it will now check for you forgetting to specifiy the host and will politely quit rather then segfaulting.

Just had a look today at a friend's Beaglebone Black system running. It has a 4.3inch LCD display, touch screen type. Very nice.
I was imagining this stuck to the front of a Classic with serial connection.
However,  can't use it for interfacing to a Classic via rs232 serial ports as these are disabled when the LCD is connected.
Bummer.

The armv7 boards are surprisingly capable for a watt and a quarter.

Sure you can.
LCD cape along with a RS232 cape to the BBB and with this http://www.berriman.co.uk/beaglebone-black-with-rs232-cape/ you will have both LCD plus RS232

Thanks for the info.
I enquired from Element14 who sell these and was told there is not really a good solution without rewriting kernel code, but it doesn't surprise me that the problem has already been sorted out, even though that solution is not exactly trivial.
I'm sort of leaning toward buying the BBB and lcd cape but I will need an rs232 cape as well?

I was under the impression that the BBB has something like 6 on board UARTs... TTL tho, not rs232.

I believe so that was the only way I found to get RS232 to work when using the LCD cape.
