wire type used in wiring the Epanel and Classic
« on: May 21, 2015, 09:43:10 PM »
I just watched the excellent video "Classic Installation " for the eighth?? time since I am about to add an Epanel and WhizBang jr to Cl #647.

I noticed that the wire used looks like fine muti-strand but there is no mention of its type.  It does not look like THHN as that would be a fair bit coarser. Also it looks to me to be 4AWG but could be 6...

I have been looking for a source for suitable wire online but its hard to find.

What type/AWG is used in that video...?

We use standard THHN internally. The only fine strand we use is the Battery cable and on larger quad Sunny Island systems we use fine strand #2 for interconnect of the AC

Seeing how Tom Bends the wire & it stays , it's not a fine strand or the super fine of Angel hair style .,,
#4 AWG at 19 strands or #6 at 19 strands ?

last night I found this good reference for SouthWire products.

Click on the ''Flexible Cord'' [ '+' ] and look down and click the ones you want to get specs on & then print the PDF for each or download a Zip file....
