Hi

I use my Classic Lite 200 not for more then half year,
the Local App was updatet and I used it now - also have no longer the problems like before!
Good job!

But it is the biggest wish, that there someone would be so kind and writes a doc about all settings in the App.
Just for users their first language is not english, it is also much more difficult to get tru it.

Now I bought new AGM for my PV and *wow* now I know what it is about Bulk/Float/Absorb ... nice.
Would be better, a user will find more Informations in the docs when he pays that much money for a Midnite.
It is importand! Or users will blow up their system / batteries. Just a bit insane, isn't it?
Don't missunderstand me please, possible you find better words in english, than I can.

Now, like I wrote, I have new batteries, and I rememer the last probs I had last year, when I throw out that ugly China-crap and installed the Classic Lite 200, to get all settings right.

PLEASE!
you can not only find all informations in the web.
Users need more informations.
Make screenshot of the app pictures, write some informations about the settings ,
what it does and what it will not, what to be carefull. And what is best value if...
Explain! Okay in english, most can read and understand when explained.
Is that so much to much wanted?

What is "sweep"- what does it do - whats the best settings for ... ?
Absorb .. Voltage can be taken from battery datasheet, but - Time?
Float Volts ... okay?
LED Mode - Lightshow or ... ?
Bully Menu - Reboot ? Will this reboot / restart the charger?

(btw thanks for the SYNC! Makes it so much easier! THANKS!)

LIMITS ... for ... ?
- Output Amps = charging amps? (if the inverter needs much power, wouldn't the charger be able to support the inverter?) no? ok. Don't know.
- Input Amps - okay, have found, the 200 can max. 79A , so we set 79 A.
- Minimum Volts ... of ... Battery? Maximum Volts ... ? Why? We have just set the charging volts? No? What is it please?

Some more informations about "Temp. Compensation"

Battery Status Meter - Efficiency? Capacity Compensation?

SWEEEP ?????????

Ending Amps ... of the charging? Why? It can charge since there is no more power from the solar cells ?!

RE-BULK ...
Days?

Found out myself how and why sometimes network did not work, DNS-Override *MUST* be 0.0.0.0 ...
why ever.

Offset (in cinema the "offset" time is when the endcredits starts...) - some one told me, if the meassured is not the real and must be corrected here ---?

  • Ground fault (OK!)
  • LoMax (what?)
[ ] Night auto reset (what?)
    [ ] insomnia (what?)
[ ] Partial Shading (i think, I know what it can be)
  • Keep logging at night (I believe I understand)
[ ] Reset Net Ah to 100% (man of moon comes to visit?)

Sell a Rolls and don't tell the user, where to turn on the navigation, how to open the roof of the convertible,
who need this, user will find out.

    Thanks.

I think you should find most of the explanations on what each individual item does in the actual Classic manual. It can be found here: http://www.midnitesolar.com/pdfs/classic_manual_Rev_1933.pdf

Thankyou

is "Night Auto Reset Enable" = "A-RST" ?

Just qas wondering, that while charging the voltage didnt go over 52,? Volts ...
Now resetet in the App with the "Bully Menu / Reboot" and works again
(but lost all logs from this morning... sucks again)
but Battery will be fully charged today again

Wich time will it reset/reboot? Have read at "midnight" hope after midnite, as my android app reads and uploads the datas also around midnight
Is it possible to set a time for example 1.00 AM for the reset/reboot?
So it is sure that all datas have been read from my android app and uploaded to pvoutput.org

A_RST will reset at 23:59 hrs. And there is no way to change that. If you use the NEW DAY function if you have a MNGP on the Classic it will write the current daily data to the log. So you would have the data for the day up until you reboot and then it will start tracking the new data after the reboot and would save that at 23:59 if A-RST is selected.

Thank you, Resthome.

yesterday I had an idea. I made some Screenshots of the app, glued them together, that show my settings.

It might be easier, if someone knows about the settings and can tell me, where I can optimize it.
mh... how insert attachments ... hope they will be uploaded ..

okay

it is a 48V system, 230Ah, the battery datas are:
Absorb Volts:     14,8V (x4 = 59,2 V)
Absorb Time:      8 h
Float Volts:        13,8V (x4 = 55,2 V)
Rebulk Volts:     12,8V (x4 = 51,2 V)

yes, the volts looks very high in compare to other AGMs -. but I double-asked the dealer.
So if they blow / dry out,  its his problem :D

---

In the 'basic' settings, i would say, it is all right

in the 'advanced' settings...
I use AUX1 to switch on/off the inverter, (the inverter is a Westech 3000 Combi, and has unrealistic voltage-switch net/battery settings)
AUX2 meets soon with a WhizbangJR)
25A is maximum charging amps?
Input Amps ... don't care? It can take what it needs from the PV,
Minimum volts? Maximum volts, don't overload batteries?

in the 'tech' settings ...
what is this sweep ... checking mppt for a better level every 5 minutes?
Ending amps, I have read something about this should be the Amps the inverter takes from the batteries, for regular needs in the house?
Days between bulk? what was bulk...
WEB/LAN works all
What is it about "LoMax Enable"
and "Insomnia Enable" - once I tried this, not sure, but I remember the charger did not charge anymore?
and "Reset Net Ah on 100% SOC" ?

Thanks :)

mh... when I am thru this all, I can write the missing manual :D

btw. when I am adding the WBjr., will the Midnite find the "Ending Amps" itself?
Will it increase the "charging" Amps (>25A) when higher load is needed by the inverter, and the PV can deliver it?

and again, for those who care, sorry for my not perfect english. It is not our "first language"
:)

You might want to check that Temp Compensation setting. Most Batteries have a nominal setting of 25 C. There was a bug in one of the firmware updates that set it to 10 C

The newest Local App also has the ability to export to a file all your settings. And it can also import all the same file. I haven't try it yet but it is suppose to work. Good for after firmware updates when the Classic needs to be reset to factory settings.

Thank you, have change this now to 25° :)

yes, saving the settings is a really good thing,
I am still running version
- Classic Rev: 1849
- Network Rev: 1839
and should update the Midnite, but I am a little scared and not sure about the procedure,
because I have a 'lite' ... and no knobs in the front and what jumpers? uuh :D
I have to read (and understand) the procedure in a "silent minute" ;)

The Local App is pretty easy to update. I'm not on my PC so can't check the latest version. Just have the LA itself check for updates and it will let you know if there is a newer version. The update check is the menu items on the title bar.

Bulk is the first charge stage when the sun first comes up it will apply all the Amps it can get out of the panel as it tries to raise the battery voltage to the Absorb voltage setting.

End Amps is where the battery amps have tapered off yet still holds the Absorb voltage. It is the point where the batteries are fully charged and when it reaches this setting for a minute the charge stage will go to Float voltage. Requires WBjr.

Days between Bulk is use to skip Bulk charge for a set number of days. It is used when you are away and little to no loads are on the batteries. Helps to no over charge the batteries when you are gone for long periods.

Sweep time is the number of minutes between the controller looking for the Power Point.  It open the circuit to the panels to determine VOC. and then loads the panels looking for the best power.
