I'm using a high powered Captain Wi-Fi external antenna by Radio Labs. My antenna is mounted 8 ft above my roof canopy. The lake is still down 45 ft and the home is surrounded by tree. And I am about a 1/2 mile from his home and not directly in line with it. I get a 50dbm signal with 70% quality. So not too bad for what I am dealing with. He is nice enough to leave me access to his router by guest port access.
