Hi All,

I have a MNBTS that came with a system and I'm trying to determine the best way to mount it.  Currently, the system has four Rolls 6 volt batteries wired for 24 volts.  The batteries are currently sitting in the open with about a half-inch air gap between the batteries.  Where is the best place to stick on this sensor?

Note:  Batteries will be placed in externally vented cabinet after shakedown.  Thanks!

Hi BAndrews,  Welcome to the Forum,

Place the BTS/RTSes all on the same battery (if you have ones for inverters,  or other charge sources),  about half-way down the side.

Ideally,  would suggest that you place the sensor/s under a piece of Styrofoam sheet,  that has an area for the BTS "hogged out".  You can just tape this styro to the battery if the battery surface is clean.   This foam helps remove the influence of environmental temperature on the sensor/s.

Do you have a copy of the Surrette Battery Manual  (?)  EDIT:   ...  here is the Link if needed:

In that Manual,  there is a recommendation for Commissioning a new battery bank,   good idea to follow it.

Assume that your batteries are probably L-16 Flooded batteries.  If they are Flooded,  be certain to have one,  or better yet,  several good Hydrometers to accurately measure the SGs of each cell.<
