This might be a silly question but why would you want to put an Andriod emulator on a PC to install updates when you can do it from windows?

Man, that is a silly question,  :D
The correct question should have been, why would you waste a good machine, old or new with Microsoft Windows  ;D

Actually, I have a nice little Dell D420 unused, with GNU/Linux that I could give this a try.
Would be great for Android development testing I think.

Thanks Graham for the link and your app looks great, well done.
Not that I have a Midnight of anything to use it on, I do my own thing for solar  :D

Android is based on Linux, so it would probably have the same issues updating the fw as other linux's

Got the cottage open for the season, tracker operational, batteries survived the winter..., unfortunately I forgot the power adapter for the wifi hotspot device so I wasn't able to monitor the system from home this week.
Still working on some issues with the latest 'live chart' release of the android app when monitoring more than one classic so I haven't posted it to google play yet.

other interesting Android news, Google recently announced that it is working on official support for Android on Raspberry Pi
