Canada’s Customs Laws

Unfortunately, Canada’s customs laws make it difficult for eBay users to buy and sell across borders. Our “de minimis threshold” is set at $20, which means we’re responsible for paying duties and taxes on international purchases worth more than $20. Our threshold -- set in the 1980’s -- is out of step internationally: the US threshold is US$800!

Canada’s low de minimis threshold makes shopping more expensive and creates red tape for entrepreneurs. It also costs taxpayers money because the government spends more to enforce the law than it actually collects at the border.

eBay Canada believes that our laws should reduce burdens on consumers, entrepreneurs, and taxpayers. If you agree, please sign our letter to Finance Minister Bill Morneau.

Im working to have BC go NO EXPORT without processing of timber /grain /fuel /fish  all resources  & get folks back to work .

to followup on that tidbit, what about the electioin promise that there would be a program for Infrastructure Renewal, like water systems across the country need upgrading... Our town was hoping for some of the $$$'s to replace watrerlines and sewer lines that were laid  starting in ~1930

lots of people were in favour of that smart beneficial type of spending to help the National economy... then the fine print.....  Ony projects over 100 million $$ will be accepted...

a canuk i'm not, but i've been talking to one for years. had hilary been elected it would've been a disaster for this country and very similar to what trudeau is doing there except hilary has the dirty background credentials that make justin look like a little bieber. quite frankly, i am a democrat and i think my own party has gone off its rocker and is evidently also very dirty in its activities. yes, there's some of that from republicans too, but they're little league in comparison. politicians are only legalized criminals any more and is why i gave trump a shot.
