I guess a glitch got the switcher running backwards tonight,  11pm in the winter and I'm making power somehow, according to the classic.   I did a manual (via LA) solar OFF and then back ON and it seems ok now, but why today, after no issues ?
After I switched it back on, the RFR was 16

Update, I went back and verified, Legacy PO mode ON.  and the RfR is still 16  (pv turned off)
ReasonForResting = 16   Normally because user turned MODE OFF...  Disabled

All working OK today.  Thank goodness, cloudy and I need every erg of power I can suck down !

Hi,

I get that at night when the solar input is lower than the battery, and "low" symbol display in "Power" gauge.

Cloudy/Sunny/Cloudy day today.   Running Legacy P/O mode as always, and the Classic started running backwards again at night !
There's got to be a better fix than manually detecting it, and shutting down, and then back on.

There is a Classic Register called "Solar/Hydro Low Watt Threshold" that controls at what watts it goes to RESTING.
By Default it is set to 15 watts and I have seen it on some Firmware set to 20 watts.
I'm going from memory but I think watts < 90 seconds of this setting = RESTING.

If you are comfortable with using the Classic's built in register editor I can email you the instructions.
I had many of my Classics not resting until the Auto Nightly Reset and it was annoying.
I set mine to 45 watts and problem solved.  I see > 20 watts on yours, you may be able to try starting at 30 watts or so.
My situation is caused by the pair of SW5548's I have installed where you can not set the battery charger to less than 1 amp AC, this trickle charge at night was making the Classic act like this.

Happening again, after 10pm , sunset at 7:30, pitch black, and claims 23w (but it's consuming - not generating)
Again, via local app, MPPT mode Legacy  turned OFF and then back ON and behaving like normal.
I'm not running the latest firmware, but if this is addressed in the current version, I'd muddle thru loading new, if I get the XP laptop running.

I'd think I'd like to get those instructions, coming up on summer, a bit extra load for 5 hours till reset, won't hurt much, but I'd like to put this issue to rest and not have to worry about it.    Will this change the startup action in the mornings ?

Hi Mike9....

That should be on the latest register map.  But I think it was a newer value that was made to be variable if wanted.

The low-watts abort  timing and power level just controls what is necessary for the Classic to go to Resting from operational, not from Resting to operational...   So it won't affect wakeup condtions / parameters.

4285 is the register address  so  4286 would be modbus register number for the number of watts that the output must be below for 90 seconds in order to go to Resting.

4285  LowWatts

This is what gives you    ReasonForResting = 5

If  LowWatts is less than 4,  the Classic will default it to 20 watts so you can't go to 0 through 3 for LowWatts value.
