How do you like this unit? Looks like the S1500-124 is 90%

Robin

Peak efficiency is 100% meaningless!
It is measured at one particular output at one particular battery voltage. If your home happens to run at these parameters, then good enough. I am sure the Cotek is just fine as far as efficiency. I would be more concerned about surge power, warranty stations, idle power, connection to NEC standards and UL listing.

You would have to clarify if you want an inverter that also charges or just inverter.
Samlex makes good products in economy line and I believe has models that also charge.
I think if you want best quality the Outback is still the best one in that line of stuff. But dislike that Outback makes you have to use Mate to program it - I borrowed one from a friend instead of buying one.

Didn't really need a charge feature as mine are almost topped off everyday by noon usually.... Just wanted something that was efficient. Figured there would be allot of people with different inverters and it would save me time behind the screen researching... Usually word of mouth is allot better than advertisements!!! Thanks for you idea :)

Look at standby current draw and if the inverter has sleep options if you want to maximize efficiency for the time it is not actually producing power.

Yea those are both great ideas!!! Thanks Larry!!

Latronics makes some bulletproof tanks of inverters.
A huge variety of output ranges and voltages.
Mine is 3000 watts and a 24 volt.

This new one coming soon from Midnite will do 2.8KW 120 at 12V, 4KW 120/240 at 24V or 48V.  :)

How soon ?  One year , two years ?   Only one I have heard coming out soon is big 48v version and beta not until January or so .
That would be great if smaller inverters are on the horizon too.

Svencool,

I have been using Cotek SK 1500-124  and Exeltek 1100  watt 24 volt inverters for several years now. They are both good units. The SK series Cotek units were designed for inductive loads and I use them with portable power tools. The Exeltech is much cleaner sine wave with very little noise, but is more expensive than the Cotek. The Exeltek has a 20 year mean time between failure rate and is used in the communications industry due to its clean wave shape and reliability. The Cotek is the only Asian inverter that I have has no reliability issues with.  Vanner, a company that mostly deals with ambulances/fire trucks uses the SK series (rebranded with their own name) on fire trucks and ambulances where reliability is a huge issue.

Hope that information helps.

David

Patiently waiting for a Midnite Rosie! or Lil Willie or whatever name is selected.

<edit added info>. The Cotek unit is plug in only and the DC input connectors are exposed....not in a box or conduit ready...so may not be ok for NEC installations.  The Exeltek is plug-in or hardwire...both the DC input and AC output can be installed in conduit...protected within the enclosure so is NEC compliant........do you need to satisfy an inspector....that may be an issue.  Most inspectors are going to require wiring be protected in conduit or raceways!
