I found these on Amazon but bought them from the source. They actually fit the size of we use for battery cables.

Little comparison........Temco TH0006 crimpers.    Central hydraulics (harbor freight)

Price                                 73.31                            59.00
Warranty                      5 years unconditional.         90 days
Warranty policy.             Unconditional                       iffy at best
Die sets.                        Fit terminals as sized.           Do not fit terminals we use here

Well I lost the important photo.....it's the dies that do the work.  It's the same tool but look at the die set.....

First photo....Temco dies on top row.........Central hydraulics die ..bottom row

Second photo  central dies on top........Temco dies on bottom

Look closely at die crimp size......they are sized to the cable lugs we use not to the wire size!

Maybe something was lost in the translation.

Edit...my internet here is dead slooow.....I will follow up with the little Temco crimpers big brother the Temco   TH0005...... Up to 600MCM in coppper and aluminum terminal and 750MCM Copper terminal only   Rated 13 tons crimp and way beefy enough for 4/0........95.00

EDIT:   I misstated.......biggest die is 600MCM....not 750MCM.....

Thank you Dave for posting this - I have been looking at crimpers for a while on Amazon, and at some point I thought I would purchase the TH0012 dieless indent wire lug crimper so I wouldn't have to worry about die sizes. After further observation, I found myself not too crazy about the indent crimping type. It reminded me of the hammer lug crimper.

Too bad the TH0006 only crimps up to 2/0, the size is perfect . I would probably get the TH0005 in case I have to crimp 4/0 cables in the future.

Here is the TH0005

Much bigger, does to 600MCM, comes with 12 sets of dies, spare o rings, American written user manual    At $95.00  a killer deal.  I've done about 60 terminations so far and all good. My really big crimper is a Hubbel-Anderson Versa-Crimp  Indent type....$3800.00 list!  This compression crimper does a better job on battery cables than the Versa-Crimp........but being fair the Versa-Crimp is meant for utility work, 7 strand and 19 strand

All the dies that I've used so far are an exact fit to the terminals I'm buying from professional sources.

I have been using the Harbor Freight crimper  for a few years . It works well but yes it seems the size on the dies are not accurate so choose the size that works. I drilled out one of the real small ones to fit bigger wire - 2/0 or 4/0 - don't remember now but it was easy to drill and worked - but was at limit of what would fit in crimper because any larger the jaws wouldn't open up far enough to get the wire out after crimping.
But well worth the price - didn't cost very much because it was on sale and I used a 20% off coupon on top of that when I bought it.

Larry,

I have a harbor freight one as pictured but got tired of the sloppy crimps due to guessing. I bought the TH0005 first to do some big cable and liked it so much I bought the TH0006 to replace the harbor freight one. I go far out in the field to work sometimes and need really good tools. I do wire bigger than 250MCM on a regular basis, both fine strand and NEC wire.  I even have a crimper for steel guy wire using steel crimps. Beefy thing it weighs too much, hard to deal with.

I definitely prefer compression crimpers to indent crimpers but as I've mentioned I do utility work and it has to look utility!

Harry,

I would get the TH0005 if I could buy only one,  but if you are only doing one job you can buy pre made cables. For me the tools I buy always pay off. I still do electrical work commercially.

Pointer to factory store.....these guys are an industrial supply house

They have good pricing on the battery cable (fine strand welding cable) that I use and terminals to fit

OK, I have a TH0005 on the way to try....have dozens of terminals to crimp in the near future. And more down the line..... :)
I got the deluxe kit, it had a solar cell and a meter.

Hi tecnodave,

Thank you very much for recommending the Temco crimpers.

Got the TH 0005.   Have only done a few crimps,   but,  it works great,  and looks to be well-made.   The warranty gives one confidence that they,  too  have confidence it their products.

Works well,  great price,  available on Amazon,   what's not to like?

Thanks again Dave.    Vic
