Hi,
my battery bank is 48 volts, 4, 12 volts batteries connected in series, i  want to add 2 more to increase my amp/hr
i would like to know if it is possible to connect the 6 batteries in series/parallel to make 48 volts. My system consists of 10, 150 watts  panels connected in series /parallel, 2- 2kw  inverters, 4, 200 amp/hr, 12 volts batteries. the other 2 batteries are 12 volts 200 amp/hr and the midnite solar controller 150.
Thanks.

If it took 4 batteries the first time to even get the 48 volts, then that's what it will take to do it over again...

Hi,

If you have parallel strings of batteries each string must be the same voltage. So, 8 batteries minimum for series parallel.
Also, it is not good to mix old and new batteries.

Yeah, You won't want to add Amp-Hours to only 2 out of the 4 series 12V batteries.

They will become out of balance quickly and ruined.

Use 8 like Doug mentioned and you should be good.
