How can I turn off the lighting on the screen and how do I operate the midnite 150 fans that are only turned off

mngp lights - Main menu / Misc / MNGP / Backlight there you will find settings for that.
The Classic fans run automatically according to how hot it gets - no user controls for those.

Actually there is also a power save function in MISC menu, This allows you to have the backlight go off after a period of inactivety
