B17 LiFePO Batteries First Batch
« on: August 30, 2021, 01:07:11 AM »
When I stopped by MS last week I got a look at the first batch run of B17 Batteries. The ones pictured will actually be used for stress/load testing of themselves and B17's. Midnite really wants to manufacture the battery modules here. And create jobs here!

Just an FYI:...if they buy $10,000,000 of the 26650 cells from China, the tariff is about $2,600, here=$12,600,000 cost.

If they have the entire battery module made in China and buy $10,000,000 of them, the tariff is about $600, not here=$10,600,000 cost.

I think I got those numbers correct, or close. Robin can chime in if I'm off?

End rant!

I got the deluxe kit, it had a solar cell and a meter.

The batteries are a real challenge for manufacturing. We are looking at making a few changes to improve manufacturability. That said......they are really a cool battery module!
