Shunt Question

I have a MNEMS4448PAECL250 system (and I love it).
In the winter I will not have much sun and a generator will be my primary source.
I would like to have an automatic gen start module with it and I was wondering about wiring methodology.
The MNEMS4448PAECL250 comes prewired with the MidNite Classic 250 prewired to the shunt.
To add a BMK and AGS from Magnum Energy to the system, can I simply add the wires to the existing shunt or do I need to add an additional shunt.
If I need to add an additional shunt I assume I would place it in series with the exiting shunt?

Thanks,
LilMT

I should clarify.  The shunt currently has a WizBangJr on it for the MidNite.
Thanks,
LilMT

As long as the existing shunt is between the batteries and everything else - any power going into or out of the batteries will show up on whatever monitoring program you are using that already reads the midnite whizbang shunt amps.
So on one side of  shunt there should only be one negative connection to the batteries - all other negatives will be on the other side of the shunt.
When I run my generator and charge with the Outback inverter , the amps from the generator show up on monitoring program.

Sounds good.

That is what I thought but I was over at a friends house and they have an Outback system and every devices that is monitoring had its own shunt.  Wasn't certain why but the system worked so I didn't question.

Just thought I should double check.

Thanks much,

I think you can even use the same shunt for more than one monitoring device if the shunt is the right specs.
They just measure the voltage drop across the shunt.
So maybe your friends system has different values shunt - like 100 ma drop on one and 50mv drop on another ?
I think the Whizbang even came with extra hardware in case you needed to hook up something else besides whizbang to the shunt.
