I have had 3 Classics running for several years. I installed an additional 4kw of PV and a new Classic. These are all going into a dual SMA 6048 Sunny Island inverter.
I can't get the four Classics to play nice. There is a communication problem between them and the SMA.
The 3 older Classics are all running firmware. The old ones are running 2126, the new one 2193. Does anyone know if there are any issues running this combination of firmware?
My understanding is the only difference between them is the talk "feature". Can anybody verify it? i really do not want to be forced to update all 4 boxes to talkies.
Hi krementz,
According to the MN Solar site, 2193 is still the latest:

The speech firmware is still considered Beta:

The above Link was from a Post by Classic Crazy Larry.
There has been some discussion of SMA Si inverters with the MN Combox, see Post #22 & 23, (and perhaps others) here:

I know nothing of these items, when connected together. Good luck, VIc
I would want to have them all on the same newest firmware . I don't know if that is the problem but that is where I would start .
There may have been other changes in the firmware too.
The SMA thread that Vic linked above has details on setting the Classic addresses and having to use the MNGP to do that instead of using the Local Status app.

I ~think~ that 2126 should be good for SMA ?
Somewhere on here there is a Classic software revision list... up to a certain point anyway.
In the MNGP menu under COM (?) there is a setting for SMA mode. Is that set ?

I know 2193 is the latest firmware.
My other three Classics have 2126.
I am asking if there are specific compatibilities issues in Modbus between the two versions. I would rather roll back the new Classic to 2126 than update the other three to 2193.
There should be no reason they wouldnt play together. I would call in to support for assistance it almost sounds like a bad cable or jack or something
