What are the + and - signs on my breaker for?

Polarized breakers have a harder time opening up under high open voltage and current.

It's all in the way they extinguish the arcs.  Non-polarized is becoming more and more
prevalent but for CC battery disconnects, polarized is just fine because you KNOW what
side has the most positive smoke making voltage (hint:  the battery side)

The polarization comes from internal magnets a lot of times.

BTW, there are switches and then there are breakers but sometimes
breakers are used for switches.
