Title: Reverse polarity
Post by: billw on June 12, 2012, 11:15:05 AM
I made the classic rookie mistake...reversed the inputs from solar inputs. Once corrected The Classic 150 seems to be unfazed and shows normal charging/controlling. I am impressed that this machine didn't go poof. The MNGP shows no green light though. Did the designers anticipate that someone would do this? Good job!

The Classic should be fine when reverse-polarized.

On the SPD not lighting up, is there voltage across the leads ?

Does the input of the Classic go up in voltage ?  If not, then maybe it
didn't like the reversed input connection ??  (I am a pessimist sometimes)

The SPD can also be used for AC circuits so it must work  in both directions
so I don't think that is the problem.

In the power save mode...switched off shows green light. 3.57v at spd. Voltage from array around 109-120. Controller is happy. Thanks for a sturdy machine which is rookie proof. :)
