I am looking at a Cl 150 and was wondering if the Firmware version can be determined from the Serial number or would assembly date be good enough?

CL150 manufactured Q3 - 12  SN# CL 04592
I will pick the unit up tomorrow.

Reason I ask is I do not have any PV equipment and want to update (if needed)  the CL 150 before I head out to the installation site that is a 3 hour drive one way and has no internet connection.

You could power it up with a couple 9v batteries or a car battery connected to the batt terminals and check the display for the firmware version.  I can't tell you the key sequence offhand to see it but it is in there someplace.

Good Luck with it.

You don't need internet connection to update your Classic, just download the last fimware on your laptop and update the controller in the field.
No problemo,

thanks guys, I just changed the Netbook over to Linux  (and I know nada about Linux yet) so I hoped to do it here where I can get help if I crash it or?
It does not have dual core so only 1 OS... the word 'techno pilgrim ' comes to mind...
I'll cobble a  12v  battery so I have some power to boot up...

Pressing the status button a few times (5 ?) will show the MNGP and classic firmware revision and date.

If the serial number is high enough, then it has the latest firmware in it.  That # would be somewhere
in the 5000+ range I think.
