I've watched the tutorial
http://www.midnitesolar.com/video/videoPlay.php?video_ID=39&videoCat_ID=3
but it's not addressing how to get the local app to search for a connected device.   For whatever reason, my classic 200, goes "silent" from about 9am - 5pm daily,  time varys a bit.  The local app can't log power production, and occasionally looses and re-gains connection at night too.   The first symptom (aside from the dials not responding) is the background goes yellow and the app complains about the time not being sync'd. Then it's downhill from there.
I've managed to hit the large X on the list of devices (I just have one device) and deleted my classic, but I can't get it back.

Using wireless router, it had been working, but now, I can't get it to search (or maybe the classic is in the zombie net or wherever it goes daytimes)

Deleted the app, reinstalled it, reverted, updated, checked and unchecked the Auto-Detect in the configuration. the wi-fi router has it listed as a device.

Help Mr Wizzard !

Mike, read my thread on getting the local app to work... you might uncover something there.

When you get into the MS box for properties, drill down a bit further, lower buttons , and see if ther is something there that doesn't fit...

Mike, to eliminate some variables, can you hard-wire it to the Classic?
that would eliminate a router issue

Second have you set it to Solar rather than P&O?

The resting and RFR 4 makes sense...

ps headed west tomorrow to see if I can look at both classics with one 'wiring job' without major fiddling with the settings...

Can't do the hard wire, and the Combox, Gateway and Morningstar all do fine on the wireless when the midnight is silent

yes, today was the first in P&O but the #'s in the secret screen flail around too much to even begin to make sense of, and if the MPPT mode affects the network, there are some other issues at work then.

My thoughts are either something in adobe Air only wants pristine connections, or there is not enough error/check/correction bits in the protocol that midnight uses.

There are a couple of potential culprits here.
First -- try to set your Classic to a static address and add that address to the local app.

Second --It seems like the Classic is dropping off your network while it's running. This makes me suspect that there may be some interference from the internal switching. Are you connected to an Ethernet switch? If so how long is the Ethernet cable run to that switch? It should be less than 3m otherwise the switching noise will affect the comms. If you are using a wireless bridge, make sure that the Ethernet cable to it is <3m and give it a little separation from the Classic itself, a couple of feet should be ample.

using static IP address helped a bit, not sure why, but the connection otherwise, is exactly the same.  I also changed from the Classic default solar, to the P&O, which will cut harvest a couple %, but it may have helped the connection.  Even using wireless and wired in the shed, did not always give me a good connection.

Mike, I just experienced a strange action by my Wdoze 7  laptop.

Over the weekend I finally got the laptop and the 2 Classics to communicate readily.  \i had to use an old router and as everyone says 'set the Classics to STATIC'. Yahho...

Until  I tried to connect to the net again!

Somewhere/how in using the laptop where there is no internet servidce, the Ltop TURNED OFF DCHP.
