Neither MM working now

Ok, after pulling hair (and uttering a few words not suitable for print or radio) I managed to upgrade to the latest firmware.

Now, the Classic 150 isn't reporting to either the old mymidnite, or the new one. Last data push to the old site was three minutes before I shut 'er down for the upgrade yesterday. Fiddled with my static IP (which seems to be the best flavour for my rickety satellite Internet), but no dice.

Maybe I should try dhcp again?

Well the newest firmware (2079) only works with the new My Midnite 2.

You will also need to change the DNS over ride on the classic from the old MM IP to 159.203.65.201 and save it and then reboot the classic.

Note after you change the IP setting for Midnite2 per Andrew and Ryan you need to reboot the Classic.

PITA to dig out the Winbloat box for something so simple, only to then realize I can do it on the Classic in a new-with-upgrade menu option.
Did it, waited 40 minutes, no workie.

BTW: the FAQ link on the MM2 site leads to an "access denied" result.

If your name appears, automatically, in the upper right corner, apparently you need to click on your name and it is supposed to make your data appear, if it is really there...

hasn't worked for me yet... waiting on a new board to appear in the mail...

Sorry for the trouble, Vern. Definitely PM me with your device ID and I'll see if I can figure out what's going on.

Thanks,

Clicking on the FAQ on the MM2 page gives me the same error for the last week...."Access Denied", Yes, I see my name as being logged on.

Been having issues with BOTH sites. Never was able to get any data to the old site, I did show just one dat of data on 11/26/15 but it would show no more.

When I was able to setup an account on MM2 (was not setup for my id) I some how was looking at someone else's Classic, not the proper ID or MAC of my Classic. Also on of those location tabs had something like Melon Solar! I did try the DNS fix but no-go.

Classic 150 <--- I have a Classic 200 Light
Device ID XXXX XXXX <-- Incorrect
MAC XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX <---- Incorrect
Firmware Revision 0
Serial Number XXXX <------ Incorrect

X'ed out the data in case it belongs to someone else.

My data on MM2 site appears to be corrupt.
Thanks

Andrew will dig into it I am sure. It almost sounds like the server has you blacklisted but then I would not expect you to see the main login page

a) Yes
b) No.

Ok for Wireshark you will need a HUB, see my sig for an e.g.,  that sits between you Classic and the wireless bridge or the router. You plug your Cat5 cable from the laptop into one of the Hub ports. That way you can 'sniff' all the communications from and to the Classic.

Andrew gave me this filter,  http && ip.addr==192.168.xx.xx   ,to use that narrows things down to the minimum... you enter this on the 'green' space at the top below the tool bar area...it will be green and then turn red until you hit 'enter' at the end of the filter...

note the spaces after http and after the second '&'

For Wireshark with MM traffic, simply filter on HTTP traffic. You can add the IP of your Classic as well:

http && ip.addr==192.168.xx.xx

Note that the PC running wireshark may or may not see the traffic from the classic depending on where it is located and your particular network hardware. In order to be truly scientific about it, it is best to put the PC between the Classic and the router and setup a network bridge. This does require two ethernet ports or one ethernet and one wireless. Alternately you can use an older hub (not switch!) which will route all traffic to all ports.

I frankly don't see why I should shell out dough for a gizmo to fix a problem that's clearly software-related. My machine worked with mymidnite before the latest upgrade, and doesn't work with MM or MM2 now. Clearly, it has the hardware capacity to talk to the outside world, satellite internet or no. Therefore, there is either a setting on the controller that needs to be tweaked, or there is a software solution (either with a tweak on the controller software, or the scripts at mm2).
