Title: MNPV3/6 Bus Bar - adding a hole
Post by: Tobit on May 17, 2014, 09:05:26 AM
This may be a dumb question but can I drill and tap small hole into the MNPV3 combiner bus bar for the purpose of connecting the positive lead coming off of an SPD-300?  I see some of the larger combiner bars already have a hole similar in size to what I'd be adding.

I'm planning an MNPV6 with three PV breakers, a GFP63, and an SPD-300 installed to be located at the array.  Similar to what Lance Barker has done at the end of the MNPV3/6 manual to reduce his trench depth.  He doesn't have an SPD installed, however.

Yes you can drill it. I would not tap it though its a pretty thin copper bus bar. I would use a stainless bolt and nut

Ok, thanks, I will get appropriate locking washers and nuts then.

Edit: oh, I probably should have posted this in the combiner forum.  Sorry.
