Title: RV PV Fusing
Post by: zulu on December 08, 2016, 02:03:53 PM
In RV forums haunt, I read about more people who do NOT use fuses between their solar panels and their controller.

Sometimes they reference this PDF (page 7) (http://www.cooperindustries.com/content/dam/public/bussmann/Electrical/Resources/technical-literature/bus-ele-an-10191-pv-app-guide.pdf (http://www.cooperindustries.com/content/dam/public/bussmann/Electrical/Resources/technical-literature/bus-ele-an-10191-pv-app-guide.pdf)) as justification for not fusing.

What's up?

Just trying to clarify a bit better:
- Are they citing voltage, current, or location as the reason to not fuse?

Some RVs use very small panels - 30 - 50 watts, just to trickle charge the battery so it doesn't go dead when not in use.  I would probably use a fuse, but maybe that is just me.
