When can we get the Midnite web page updated with the latest production firmware for the Classic?
It's been out of date for a long time and we have had promises to get it up to date but nothing seem to have taken place. Thought we had a person to make sure documentation and firmware was posted to the web page in a timely fashion, maybe not.
I had been Beta testing the new voice firmware last year but turned it off because it had a glitch where it kept talking when mppt float and float were switching in and out. I think I heard that this had been corrected - but must be in one of the new firmwares that has never showed up on the Midnite page.

An Robin has said Classic's are shipping with Voice firmware.
There is also a bug on the Audio - Advance page trying to set the time between status and error reporting. You cannot always get these set as they do not always highlight. If they are left at 0 the voice just keep repeating and the minutes between status does seem to be too accurate to me. I get status messages even when set to Error only.
The fact that the support Knowledge Base shows more recent firmware version and what firmware works with what MNGP firmware and just January firmware on the Software page indicates the latest firmware are not being posted. And yes it would be nice to get a readme file stating what change in the firmware.
Hey John ! There will be an official upload of this code to the web site soon (gotta abide by the bureaucratic ECN process) BUT for the moment, here is Classic version 2193. This version may help some Classics that crash when they heat up.
http://bob.midniteftp.com/Classic_Control_2193.zip
It lacks the 250KS and MNGP code which did not change.

I am still on the Voice Beta 2154 voice MNGP - is there a newer one than that ?
The one I have has the stuttering problem when it gets to Float MPPT .
Guess I will find out when it gets posted on the Midnite page.
Larry
Now I've forgotten, can firmware updated be performed without adding the voice option ?
FW 2126 with NetWork 2097 is mute... AFAIK, at least mine is ;)
Believe that the Classic Voice FW is still Beta, here:

The MNGP is what talks. The Classic has code in it to be able to update the MNGP flash with the sounds.
You can use an older MNGP version or newer version and just don't upload the audio. Might be best in that case to
turn OFF the AUDIO in the MNGP MISC menu.
So, yes, you can update the MNGP without the voice AFAIK.

Not according to Robin. He stated that Classics are now shipping with Voice so I would not think they are shipping Classics with Beta Voice. And yes there are a few bugs in the old Beta Voice. Don't know if they have been addressed in the version being shipped.

What is the latest MNGP version? I have MNGP 2149 5/26/17. MNGP updated for D2D for Voice without version change.
Hi John,
Good point about Beta vs Production FW.
I should have said, that the only reference that I found for Classic Voice FW, was that Linked reference.
The MN Solar site lists only the 2126 FW set.
Some of this is probably what you were referring to, in the first Post.
Thanks for the correction, enjoy Lake DP. Vic

Yeah even with ECN in place as boB has indicated the whole firmware versions with and with out Voice has been out of wack for a while now. What I am attempting to do is to get the firmware posted under Software on the Midnite web page to be current. And hopefully agree with what is posted on the Support page Knowledge base section for matching MNGP firmware versions with Classic version firmware. AFAIK the only links to Voice firmware is what has been posted in the forms as you have noted and nothing on the Software web page.

Humm…. this SHOWS a MNGP 2186 but not matched to the Classic 2193. This page hasn't been updated for about a year. So is this typo or is there really a MNGP 2186?
Still no official posting on the web software page showing any updates other than 2126.
Yeah I don't get that chart either John - my Classic with the beta voice stuff from last year shows
2154 MNGP 6/26/17
2151 Classic 5/26/17
2122 Network
Larry
Yes I agree, there is IMPORTANT DATA MISSING from the table, see my sig line for what I have on/in my Classic...
Yeah my CL150 has
New Classic Firmware : Classic 2151 5/26/17, Network 2122, MNGP 2149 5/26/17
New Classic Firmware : Classic 2151 5/26/17, Network 2122, MNGP 2149 5/26/18. MNGP updated for D2D for Voice - note version not changed when ability to set time range for voice to operate.
boB provided CL 2193 but the chart says it should be paired with MNGP 2148. Not sure I should use 2193 with the 2149. This whole firmware issue has gotten out of hand and especially the lack of read.me file saying why the update ever since the new firmware loader.
Personally I think the chart is out of date and if MN is going to provide this info in the Knowledge Base it needs to be keep current, although I could be wrong. Don't get me wrong I love MN products and the MN employees that respond and post here. I know they are all busy with new products but there is such a thing as sustaining engineering for current shipping product.
Classic version 2193 should work with any of these newer MNGP versions (21xx).....
Depending on the MNGP version, there might not be the right code for voice but that shouldn't matter for regular old Classic workings.
No new menus or other features besides voice stuff AFAIK.
Official update still coming as we go through the red bureaucracy tape.
boB
Thanks for finally getting the 2193 Classic and the 2186 MNGP firmware posted to the download page.
I was going to try and update this firmware via the remote serial port -- not sure if that is possible but can't even try with the standard firmware updater because it does not let you pick a serial port. I tried changing it to serial port 8 but software still did not recongnize it.
Just updated the old fashioned way using usb cable directly to Classic. It all went smooth with provided updater on Windows 10 here.
Now at
2186 MNGP 11/29/17
2193 Classic 2/6/2018
2122 Network
It set my time back to 9/10/2000
All my other settings stayed the same - except the voice that I had turned off came back on to read the screens.

Keep us posted on what you discover Larry.
Not sure when we are going to get back to the boat, too much smoke from all the fires and add the heat it's just not any fun.
Oh - I just found a weird quirk without even trying too hard.
When the Classic is in Float and I press Enter it sounds an alternating tone and keeps on going - only way to stop it is to press the Main Menu button . MNGP 2186 Classic 2193 . It does this in every Audio talking mode - except for OFF . Here is link to youtube video of it .
https://youtu.be/xXMmvQWlW6I
But it does seem so far like the talking problem of the past when it went into MPPT float is fixed.

What newest 2196 ? I haven't seen that one anywhere . 2193 is what is on the Midnite download page .

2196 hasn't been released yet. Should be soon though... I just learned about the change myself.
I thought that the beep was gone a long time ago but I guess not.

Thanks Larry and boB, guess I will wait.
Hopefully, ECN doesn't take months like the last one. :)
I also noticed that the 2193/2186 is not respecting the quiet time for voice. It talked briefly a couple times announcing the status ( when it started charging ) before the quiet time period ended.
Larry
When I need an update, can I download to Linux, put the file on removable storage, and then find a Win PC to do the actual update?
The answer may be an obvious "yes" but other devices/companies require a connection during the update process. If this is in the Classic manual I haven't found it.
My ENTER buttons make the alternating beep noise often. I just figured I'd get quieter with practice.

It's doing that with the current version I have. So that bug apparently didn't get fix yet.

You might be able to run this installer in Linux. There are multiple versions that seem to work.
No I don't have a list since it is an unsupported OS BUT I thought I would mention it.
To answer your question there should not be any problem downloading the zip file and then unzipping it onto a windows PC.

boB, IIRC it's in the morning when it starts charging or comes out of resting even though the Voice is set to be off until say 9:00AM. Not sure if this is 100% or intermittent. Hope to get back to the boat over Labor Day weekend, so I watch it more closely.
Oh, and the version I am running was the one that was provided for the Voice beta when the DTD feature was first added and the version # did not change.
Now after not talking for a awhile it all of a sudden says
" I bet you got a big charge out of that Buster " or something like that in mans voice.
And then the woman voice read off the screen .
I have it on
Chatty Cathy mode
Status 1:00 Errors 30
It is 7:47 pm so maybe going to Resting Mode is what triggered it ?
It is within the okay to talk settings times .
