Title: Classic charge controller on an Air 40-48v wind turbine
Post by: mahendra on February 21, 2013, 06:18:26 PM
OK i know i asked ,a similar question before relating to a Classic on a wind turbine. But i received the turbine i mentioned turns out its not a Air industrial but an Air 40- 48 volt turbine. So question again - "Is there any way i can use this turbine on my 12v nominal system using a Classic charge controller configured for wind?

Yes, just set your battery bank voltage to 12v.  Mode would be wind.  Just make sure the voltage to the classic is dc by rectifying the turbine output.

well the turbine has its own regulator for battery charging i just need the class to convert to 12v nominal

Yes, I figured it did have the electronics inside but, you never know.

On a side note:
If you get rid of all the on-board stuff and rectify the output( if the turbine has wild AC output) I'd let the Classic handle the little turbines affairs.
Sorry, I didn't get in on the other thread and hadn't read it.  So, all this may have been mentioned before.

can i ask? , how can i safely rectify the turbines output what hard ware would i need?

Have you tore this turbine apart to see what you have to work with?

no i haven't it is  a used turbine but fully functioning .Its just that my system i.e battery bank ,inverter etc are 12v and the turbine in 48v dc i just want to make use of it.

No need to go through the details, you sound like you need to use it as it is.  So, just get you a Classic, set it up, play about with the wind curve, set back and relax.  Let the Classic do what it can with what the controller within the little turbine spits out.
