I have 2 battery banks and am thinking about adding a LITE to replace the MX60.
the reason I would do the change is I would like to be able to monitor and download the data from both 150 and Lite using the USB connection to the 150 which would be linked (wired) to the LITE so that there is only one permanent USB connection.
Is this feasible? Can it be done with current APP or ?
Can Updates be done in the same manner?
Here is some off forum communications with Ryan on this topic that has some good info about Follow me.
I posted the question about being able to link a Lite to a CL 150 and then be able to update and download from each unit which would be connected independently ( no follow me) to separate battery banks.
Yes this will work as long as the battery negatives are both common to each other. You would run the Follow Me cables but not turn on Follow Me, this will allow you to address the Lite so it is viewable from the Classic. But the 2 battery banks MUST have common negatives.
thanks Ryan, can you clarify the issue about sharing the negative? I had sort of planned to use 2 batt monitors (shunt type) once everything was in operation and with a common Buss bar before the inverter...
They just need to be at the same potential (IE no voltage present between them) as long as they are bonded in one place (IE on the battery side of the shunts or through 2 separate GFP devices life will be good)
thanks Ryan, just thinking about the bonding, how large a wire would be needed?
10ga? 6 ga? 4 ga?.
I don't quite understand how connecting them would remove any V (?) differential, does this mean that there would be a bit of V transfer between banks?
Can you explain this a bit.
