Title: Beeping Classic..
Post by: TomW on April 03, 2013, 08:30:59 PM
I wandered into my Power Room just before sunset this evening and my Solar Classic was beeping. It must have driven the black cat who sneaks in there crazy as he exited like rocket sled when the door opened.

I pushed the enter button to activate the display and it quit beeping. No error displayed and I have no idea what was wrong other than low light from the setting sun.

Thanks for any info. I could not even find "beep" in the manual and nothing in the forum helped either.

Congratulations !! You WIN  the  FIND THE BEEPER contest !!

Did you look at the MNGP display for a few seconds before you pressed the button ?

Is Arc Fault enabled or disabled in tweaks ?   It might have been an arc fault trip,
maybe false of course....

Or a ground fault ?

Either one of those will cause this and be silenced and reset by pressing a button on the MNGP.

But the display message area should alternate with the fault message.

Or, maybe it just had to get some beeping off its chest ?

Voice will be much more informative than beeping, I promise !

I don't think mine has ever made a real pronounced alert kind of beep, but she is however kind of verbose. I mentioned in the past that under certain conditions she does sing a bit with various squeaks, chirps, squeals and the like. It does seem to happen more at the end of the day, I like to think of them as her happy chatter when full and content.

Now that I think about it I can't recall my Lite making the same noises.

I have had a few times when my classic was beeping and said arc fault, I checked all connections and found them to all be tight. I just set it to be less sensitive and have not had a problem since.

It was dark in the Power Room so I pushed the button to light the display and I never saw any messages on the display.

Arc Fault was off. Ground Fault was off.

I had  GF error a couple days ago but no problems found so I disabled it.

Curious there is no mention in my manuals either paper or PDF of the beep or what it indicates. I seem to recall someone mentioning a way to recall the error codes but cannot remember the method.

Thanks for the feedback, folks.

Since you also started a fresh thread on this issue, folks might want to  answer this question over here:

Actually a  post in the firmware thread would be even better yet since it is apparently firmware related.

It will help future searches to keep firmware related issues in one location.
