OK, first sorry for the newbie question, but I have our new system up and running and working great but I want to monitor my Classic 150 via my laptop. I have hooked up an either net cable to the Classic and my laptop but nothing happens. Is there some magical password, secret code, or program I need to download? Is this even possible?
Any advise would be greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Go to this page http://www.midnitesolar.com/firmware.php and download the newest firmware and follow the links to the forum for the latest connection software for 'the Midnite GUI' and the local status panel.
you should be able to find what you need there.
cheers
alrighty....went to website, downloaded new firmware....per instructions de-energized the classic, plugged usb in and powered up classic, then hit classic 150 button and......nothing!
Any reason why firmware would not start automatically? tried several times and nothing.
what OS are you using, Windoze also needs Adobe AIR to work, and you should have the most recent version of that too

Did you do the setup of COM8 on your usb serial port on computer?
dgd
Hmmm...did not do set up of com8.....what is the procedure?
Hi Bb,
I had similar issues when first trying to update the FW in my Classics.
I am running Windoze 7 HPE, and the following thread helped. Once the computer that you are using has been configured to do the Updates, you will not have to worry about this. And, in my case this has allowed me to forget just what was done.
This thread pertains to Windows 7:

There must be some description of this procedure in the FW section of the MN site ... EDIT: Here is the Video describing FW DL and configuring the Com port, FWIW:

Good Luck, Vic
Thanks Vic.....will give it a shot tomorrow.
Be sure to hit the 150 button first and then power up the Classic
