Post by: mahendra on July 28, 2013, 11:02:32 AM
if i am using a midnite stop switch for wind  with a classic on the turbine(relays and dumps connected to the charge controller and batteries of course) where is the best position for the stop switch before or after the charge controller.i am not sure thinking it should be before the cc .i am kinda confused.

Before the Controller. If it is a Classic then you cannot just short the input it will not like it. You will need isolation between the Classic and the stop switch (diode). I am not familiar with the Midnite stop switch so it may already include this.

A bit more detail would help.

The Midnite stop switch: http://www.midnitesolar.com/productPhoto.php?product_ID=291&productCatName=Wind%20and%20Hydro%20Accessories&productCat_ID=25&sortOrder=10&act=p (http://www.midnitesolar.com/productPhoto.php?product_ID=291&productCatName=Wind%20and%20Hydro%20Accessories&productCat_ID=25&sortOrder=10&act=p)

it is a Break before Make switch meaning it will go between the turbine and the Classic or the Turbine and the Battery if there is no Classic. It will open the connection to the Classic first and then short the turbine out.
