Title: Arrrrrrggghhh!!
Post by: SolarWind on August 24, 2013, 09:56:13 PM
Why does the Classic manual have different illustrations for the terminal block, some that show the COMMON GND NEGATIVE and others where the GND is painted over. I inadvertently hooked the ground to the GND terminal then on further review realized it was wrong and had to return to the site.

SW;

The chassis ground is a lug behind the blue terminal block on the case. Several folks have been confused by the chassis ground location.

I didn't look again but I thought the blue terminal block was "neg" itive and "Pos" itive? The negatives are common. Negative is NOT the same as Ground in this case.

Negative and Ground seem to be loosely defined and interchanged many places in this world.

Hope that helps.

Tom

Oh I already figgered it out Tom but thanks. It's just seeing a terminal marked GND leads one to believe it is GND. There's apparently some confusion going on here b'cuz the Midnite Classic manual has it painted out in some pics and not in others.

Yes that was a screw up. They silk screened GND under one terminal on the circuit board. Major FUBA. They are supposed to remove the GND in house now. Actually the new circuit boards should not have it let me check.. No the new boards are fixed.

I will be locking myself in a closet in a few weeks and doing a complete new Classic manual. I will make sure it matches the actual Classic.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
