Title: Lost Classic on MyMidnite after firmware update
Post by: Wxboy on October 06, 2013, 11:34:10 AM
I updated to the latest beta firmware yesterday, 10/4/13 version, and since the update no new data has been sent to MyMidnite.

Notes:
I did a VMM after the firmware update(Classic and MNGP were updated).
It is communicating with the Local App.
No settings were changed on the Classic other than re-programming voltage and absorb settings after the VMM.
Network communication/Internet Access(can't remember what it is called) is enabled

Any idea of what I can do to try to get this communicating again?

Hi,
Make sure the DNS Overrride value is set to 0.0.0.0 unless you were using the DNS override in which case it should be set to:

98.129.247.45

I set it back to zero's and it started working.  Thanks.

That zeroing should probably be added to happen automatically if possible.

Not necessarily with the VMM (Vulcan Mind Meld) but maybe when the firmware has been updated.

I will look into that.

I have the same issue. I updated my classic to the latest beta firmware and did the VMM after this. All went smooth with the update but from that moment I have had zero communication with mymidnite.

Much the same deal as the experience above.

My classic is communicating over the local app just fine.

I have web access is enabled on the classic.

After reading the reply's to the first post. I checked to see if  the DNS Override value was set to 0.0.0.0 and it was.

So I am still stuck.

The last communication with Mymidnite Last was on 11/3/2013 at 11:44am

My classic id is   B427 C482

Make sure to power cycle the classic after changing the DNS setting to 0.0.0.0. If you have a Lite then you will have to set the Dip switches to Custom mode.

If 0.0.0.0 does not work for you try:
98.129.247.45

and again, power cycle the classic.

By default the DNS2 should get zeroed out after a firmware update but there seems to be a bug on some units that prevents this.

Thanks!

I did power cycle the classic once after the install. I had to get back to the city so ran out of time to fiddle to much. I set the classic to Auto restart at midnight  to see if that would fix its self.

I woke up this morning and my issue with it not dialing into mymidnite has fixed its self. I guess during the auto restart and its logging better than ever. Nice tight regular logs so the software update has fixed all the big erratic gaps in the logs ;D

Thanks for the tips great support as always. A big part of the reason why I just purchased a 2nd classic.

I had my router turned off for a week. When I turned it back on there were no reports on MyMidnite. I repowered the controller and it started working again.  Never had the problem after any of the updates.   Anyway the restart fixed it.
