Title: Whisper 500 wind curve
Post by: SolarMusher on December 14, 2013, 01:07:34 PM
Hi,
Is there a power curve that could be used for a 5 years Whisper 500 3kw Wind turbine, I've a customer who would need to replace a broken Southwest controller to make it work? If not, maybe another idea?
Thanks,
Erik

I have exactly the same issue....a customer who needs to replace a SWWP  EZ-Fire controller on an H500...
And is also wondering if it's worth it to buy a Classic for another H500 where the controller is OK, just wants to see an increase in output from MPPT.

I don't know, this whisper is located at 800km from me, too far to control what's wrong with it. The only thing I know is that there wasn't any surge protectors and just one ground rod installed at the base of the tower. Obviously, it's seems to be a surge problem.
Eric, I'm French (from europe) so I could be slow... sometimes  ;).

800 Km, wow, that is some service call!   You really do want to  make sure you have everything with you, including the kitchen sink... ::)

Do you think there is any hope of repairing it or replace?

If had it closer, I'm pretty sure I could make things work but for I won't drive such a distance just to control it and drink a coffee. I checked it on Google and it was 760km, 1500km round trip.

40/800 = +- 5% variance, well within our confidence limits??  I would bet that you will be becoming very familiar with all the bumps in that road  -> /\ <-   -> /\ <-  -> /\ <-.... repeat...

Maybe you need a chopper? and Santa Claus ::) ::)

John Mcdonald Solar and Wind are the official parts distributor for what is left of Southwest Windpower.  John provided me with the wind curves for my Whisper 175/500 48v turbine... I am posting this again for the individual who made the request.  I hope it helps.

Amps

0,10,16,23,26,29,32,35,45,51,58,67,70,77,83,89

Volts

48,49,51,56,60,67,72,78,86,90,95,98,100,102,104,105

If you need help setting up a clipper with another Whisper voltage system you need to contact John or Glenn...

Thanks for the curve, Mr. Fingers !

I think we have a curve stored in the Classic MNGP but can't remember if this is the same or not.
