Title: Classic 150 and two solar arrays
Post by: DMJ72 on February 01, 2014, 07:27:29 AM
Hi everyone,

I am planning on replacing my morningstar MPPT-60 with a classic 150 in the coming weeks, I would like to add an east 800W facing array to my 1kW south facing array. My system is 24V nominal.

Will I need to add another classic for that array? or can the Classic's excellent MPPT tracker deal with the two orienations at the same time..

Well it will deal with it but the question is how much you loose. What I would do is hook each array up with its own breakers so you can isolate them. Then at high noon on a good day I would start with Both arrays on and note the wattage. Then I would switch off on of the arrays and hit enter on the Classic to force a sweep. Note that wattage and swap the arrays and repeat that. The do the math and see how much you are loosing.
