Title: Sorrowful news from Alaska
Post by: toothy on February 23, 2014, 06:41:08 PM
I think she has expired! Her smoky vapors have shuffled off this mortal coil.

I was having the problems described in dapdan's "Classic has been hung" thread below and now she let out the magic smoke in a big way.

I went back on the firmware then reloaded 1775 without being able to do a VMM.

Nice sunny day today and early this morning she was putting out some watts on the local APP and I thought all was well.

Went out to the gen shed a few hours later because I was getting "device not available" on the local App.

The breaker between the Classic and the +buss was tripped and I just threw it back and POOF CRACKEL POP! I still had my hand on that breaker when the excitement started so I helped it back off or it popped on it's own.

The excitement kept coming as the pv breaker was still on so I threw that one and she calmed down for the final time.

So the moral of this story, be careful if you get the failure to be able to do a VMM after this upgrade.

I do believe the squealing noise in the top of the unit yesterday was related. It was not the normal contented chirping noise that they make some times. If I could have amplified it the coyotes would have come running.

Just as a "Lets see what could go wrong" I installed 2 of the units I caused the same failure on with the firmware update. Now I did do a VMM after I did all the firmware back and forth. Did you do a VMM as well?

So far they are acting normal but they did both wake up in float not bulk?

Ryan

I tried to do a VMM but that is where it got stuck. I described this condition in dapdan's  hung classic thread. I also tried the 2 right button push, when the moon pop's up, get VMM unstuck trick you described in that thread to no avail.

Like I said on the local App all seemed normal and it was early morning bulking like it's sisters with normal output. My initial problem was an incorrect Ah counter on the Wbjr Classic and then no Bts on either of the 2 followers. I was headed out there to check that I had the master follow Bts set up correctly after watching you video when bad stuff happened.

I'll give a shout after some coffee.

Thanks
Wade

I think you may have skip bulk days activated.
