Title: Need PNL-80-DC breaker
Post by: Kerry on May 31, 2014, 06:39:03 AM
I'm starting to assemble my new small PV system. The instructions for connecting my Flexmax 80 say I need a "PNL-80-DC circuit breaker" for disconnect and overcurrent protection.  The ones I see online have posts and nuts on the back and won't fit in the "Lower circuit breaker DIN rail" in my Midnite Solar e-panel MNE125ALT. (see attachment)

Suggestion?

Thanks, Kerry

My components:

(4) 250w Canadian Solar PV panels with MC4 male & female connectors on each 3' 12 awg wire. (each panel is rated 30.1v, 8.3 amp).
(4) 6v, 232 amp Deep Cycle batts configured for 12v using 2/0 cables.
(2) 0 awg cables from the batts to the e-Panel lugs.
(1) Flexmax 80
(1) ProWatt SW 1000 Inverter
(1) Midnite Solar e-panel MNE125ALT
(1) Midnite Solar-MNPV6 Combiner Box with (4) 15 amp circuit breakers.
(8) 10' 10 awg extension wires from the panels to the Combiner Box.
SnapNRack fastening system.

You could do the MNEPV80 it is din rail

Or on the other side of the Epanel there should be a panel mount location for 3 of these:

Hi Halfcrazy,

The MNEPV80 looks like it will serve the purpose. Thank you.

Darned if I can see how to attach the other one, the MNEPV80. Perhaps it requires a MNBreaker Adapter - $6.00?

Much thanks,

Kerry

Kerry,

I think that the adapter MNBreaker adapter is to mount a MNDC 80 or 100 into the space for the MNDC125 breaker. Some MidNite panels have the option of using either 5 din rail or 3 panel mount breakers. That is the adapter I was referring to. That option may not be for all epanels.

In any case the MNEPV80 will directly mount in an epanel.
