Title: whizbang readings on My Midnite ?
Post by: ClassicCrazy on August 10, 2014, 01:05:27 PM
Anything on the horizon for getting the Whizbang system amps or other data to show up on My Midnite ?  It sure would be useful to know what is going on with the system from afar.

Thanks

Yup,
I'm  working on a major release of the website which will include WBJr data.

Yeah I've been sitting on these changes for a while -- some other higher priority issues came up in the meantime. I should be able to release pretty soon now.

Thanks Andrew

Winter is on the way and it will be nice to know how close to full we made it and when.

One way to know when you made it to full even without the Whizbang readings would be to select Time in Float .

Hopefully Andrew will step in and give us an estimate but I am thinking he is still a ways out? This stuff always seems to take longer than I hope for but hopefully soon

Any update on the update?
Just forked over the money for a Whizbang Jr. and shunt, they are working great, but would love to be able to see the data charted on mymidnite...

Thanks.

More, More, MORE!  We want more data on the MyMidnite website!!!

What I will really like seeing is being able to watch system amps on graph as compared to SOC and battery voltage. This will make identifying end amps point much easier than sitting around watching the MNGP screen.  Confirmation of electrolyte in SLA battery will confirm it.  Right now I have ending amps set , but never know how long it takes to get to this and would be interested to see how long absorb time takes as compared to SOC that it began at.

Not sure if everyone realizes it yet but the Mymidnite Beta site is up and it displays Whizbang and other data . Much improved on old My Midnite.  You need to load newest firmware and updated beta network firmware and put in the IP for My Midnite Beta site.

Here is a screenshot of a few of the features. Best of all is now you can also see full scale graphs of things like battery voltage .

Look at the second post down in this thread - has new IP address and where you need to change it in Classic

How do you log into the new site 50.57.186.168/

Are we still able to use the old site?

Did you follow that link listed above - it tells you the place you need to put the new IP Address in - on MNGP Net  menu second screen MM or use Local Status App Cofig Tech DNS Override

Yes i followed the link as best i could.

I'm now getting "No data available"

Do you mean you get no data available on the Mymidnite page ?  Were you able to log in to it ?
Just to make sure - you entered the new IP address into the Classic under DNS Override in the networking menu section ?
Did you try restarting the Classic ? I think you may have to do that - been awhile since I made those changes but it did not seem to work for me at first and somehow I resolved it. Try re-powering up Classic. Then log in to MyMidnite - it can take awhile to gather data but you should see your system on one of the tabs .

Yes i'm able to log into the new mymidnite website but it says

"This Classic has not been able to communicate with the server for more than 2 weeks. Check your device's network connection and consider upgrading its firmware."

The usual mymidnite site has worked up until yesterday but now nothing.  I cannot change any setting as the house is a few hours away which is annoying.  I'm a little disappointing with the  instructions on this last update.  I'm no computer wiz but never had any trouble in the past.

I used the 1933 update. Is that correct?  Maybe i accidentally changed a setting while entering the Data.  I did a factory restore too.

I just found out recently that the Local Status App now has a place to save all your settings so that after you do a firmware update to the Classic you can just click the restore and all the previous setpoints will load up.

It sounds like for some reason your Classic is not communicating with the website . Did you also do the newest network alpha update ? I guess if you are not at your Classic and can't see exactly what is in the settings that does make it difficult to trouble shoot now.

I understand your frustration, I have had some now and then doing updates but always appreciate the end results. The biggest problem I had was when I had to do the jumper pull to VMM . It was easy enough to do but until I figured out that was needed it took some time. The instructions on how to do that were right there with the firmware update page but I had never needed them before so had overlooked them. I updated a friends Classic and it went without a hitch and no jumper pull needed. So guess you never know.

Not sure you can do anything until you get back there and check the settings in the Classic. I would start by looking carefully at the network settings to see that you have filled in the ip like in my screen shot , make sure web enabled is checked, do the network alpha update if you hadn't already done that one, and then turn the power off to the Classic and let it restart.

Sorry for the trouble, Jimbo,
Please make sure to read the two first posts of the update thread:

http://midnitesolar.com/Forum/index.php?topic=2364.0

Also please remember that this is an ALPHA test which means that it is most likely broken and you should assume it won't work until proven otherwise. It is not a Beta test like the past updates. Your connection to the regular MyMidnite site will not work while you have the new ALPHA firmware installed and you will most likely lose all data that you log during the testing phase (note that there is a functional export setting on the site so you don't necessarily have to lose all the data).

This is not an update for the faint of heart, I apologize if this wasn't clear in the post -- again, anyone who is interested in ALPHA testing the new website, please make sure to read the caveats and instructions under the thread listed above.

Thanks!
-Andrew

Hi guys,

I probably did rush into it a little. I just saw a post stating that there was more data on mymidnite and did it asap.  It really didn't help that my laptop battery went flat while i was playing around with settings and i forgot to bring the charger.

I'm fairly sure i put the new dns in correctly so any idea what i may have done to stop it from working? I may be able to talk someone through it over the phone or just bite the bullet and drive up and fix it.

Maybe i missed this part:

Download this file http://ryan.midnitesolar.com/install_1900.zip and unpack it some where that you can find it.

Now with the power off to the classic follow these steps:

1-Open the file labeled install_1900
2- Double click on the file named "classicnetup.BAT"
3- Follow the prompts in the black boxes and turn power on to the classic when told to, Com 8 should open and percentage should count up
4- Black boxes will close automatically, when they do turn the power off to the classic
5- Double click the file named "classicxxx.BAT' where xxx is 150,200 or 250
6- Follow the prompts in the black boxes and turn power on to the classic when told to, Com 8 should open and percentage should count up
4- Black boxes will close automatically, when they do turn the power off to the classic and back on

If you could get someone to look at the network setup screens and see exactly what is in there that would probably help. Also the screen that shows which versions of the MNGP and Classic firmwares are loaded up. And if they turn the Classic off and let it reboot see if that does anything. And repower the router that it is plugged in to.  My friends system quit reporting and I had them do that and it fixed it.

I have just gone through it all again and still doesn't work!!  Everything updated fine and i changed the DNS Override and reset the Classic.

How hard is it to go back to the old website?

Hi, Jimbo,
Did you make sure to reset the classic after changing the DNS settings?

If so and it's still not working for you, then just go back to the production firmware available on the main website. Change your DNS override setting back to 0.0.0.0 or 98.129.247.45 and reset the unit. It should come right back up on the original mymidnite.

Yes i reset the classic.  Still the same message!

What step could i have possibly missed?

I really don't know, Jimbo. It _should_ be as easy as Alpha firmware, DNS override, reset, but there's obviously still an issue with the Classic.  I have another tester with a similar problem. It seems that the Classic still is refusing to dial out on some networks which is, frankly, baffling.

I'd suggest reverting back to the production firmware until we find and fix the issue.

Sorry for the trouble.

I think I may be that other customer... turned out to be a router issue, wasn't allowing the classics to send data out. Got that fixed by chance, working well now.

Beat me to it!
Yeah, try resetting any routers or switches in between the classic and the Internets. The tubes may all be blocked.
Title: Re: whizbang readings on My Midnite ?

Everything was reset today as when i work on the midnite i have to turn power off to the inverter.
Title: Re: whizbang readings on My Midnite ?
Post by: atop8918 on May 07, 2015, 04:10:16 AM
In that case I'd revert to the old firmware and go back to the old site. I'll dig back through the firmware to see if I can find the issue.

Thanks,

I loaded 1933 back on and still nothing!

The tenants had to reset their modem a week ago. Could that have possibly changed something?  Local status worked perfectly straight up.

I think you should try starting over and reload the newest firmware and network stuff and put in the address for  the new alpha site again.

Maybe going through all those steps again will correct whatever was not working. You know what they say - if at first you do not succeed - try try again !

I know it is a pain but that is what I would try doing. It has been working perfectly for me all along , and for a friends system that I set up for them.

That is a bummer . What router are you using ?

I just looked back at some of your past posts. Seems like you did everything right .
When you install the newest firmware , connect up with Local Status App or on the MNGP and make sure it says it has new version. Take note of the network version too. Then try updating the network alpha version and see if that changes.

Also remember to save parameters with Local Status App first so you don't have to enter them all again after the update.
