Title: Help Installing a bank of Rolls-Surrette S6-460 AGM to a Clasic 150
Post by: m2bracing on October 08, 2014, 07:43:18 AM
I'm installing my first Classic 150 to a 48v bank of Rolls-Surrette S6-460 AGM batteries. I want to make sure that I'm using the correct settings and don't fry my batteries. From the battery mfg. sheet @25c my bulk should be 58.80vdc and my float at 54.60vdc. The TempComp said -4mv/c with my limits at 61.29 to 53.16. It said that they shouldn't need to be equalized if properly charged so I have the auto eq turned off. So I have set the classic with these settings. The Mfg. talks about using the ending current to end the float and not to charge over 8 hours. I'm not sure where to set these values. I think since I have the Whiz-bang it's in those settings. I just need a little help in tweaking the classic with the AGM Battery bank.

So for Charging time press the "Main Menu" button several times until "Charge" is highlighted and press "Enter" and then scroll to "CHG Time" (I think that's the exact name from memory?) and press "Enter". Here you will see Absorb time. This is the 8hrs they are talking about.

As for End Amps, Press the "Main Menu" button several times until Charge is highlighted and press "Enter" and then scroll to "advanced" and push "Enter" Here you will see End Amps this is where you set the value Surrette gives you. also make sure in the bottom left corner it says shunt not classic. To change that use the upper left button.

Yes, remember, AGM is sealed, so any gas (O2 & H) that vents from too high of charge, will be water (capacity) irreversibly lost.
Generally for solar, Bulk and Absorb are the same voltage, but in Absorb, the amps taper off as the battery accepts the final stages of the charge.  As you calculate when you have spent enough time/amps in Absorb to fill the batterys, then you drop back into Float.

Thanks I'm made those changes.

I'm going to add another classic that's been on back order. Is there a way to backup the settings from one classic then restore it to a different classic?

Man, that would be a sweet option! As far as I am aware that is not possible. I just jot them down on paper and program in manually.

If Midnite implements the feature I suggested in this link, it should be very straight forward to back up your settings.
