Less than a week on the job , this new Classic 150 has replaced the KID due to my finishing adding the other four panels to the array . Solar 305W 37.6 VOC 30.6 VMP 8.22 ISC 7.87 IMP 4 strings in 2 in Series for 24v Classic 150 -330 Ah . With the kid and summer with only one freezer on , the kid could rest / sleep but would always bulk to float , no problem (Well Trained KID) . This senior Classic (came with the 100 ohm Mag BTS & must be used, while my other three I ordered didn't !!!) is always resting !! With sun on the panels , to the point , today at 10:30 the rain stopped , sun started & at 11:00 -14:00hrs it was bright & a few breaks of full sun , Classic was resting , no watts , PV was 82V battery 24.2 !! , this must be broken !!
I haven't adjusted much of the factory settings , but three days ago , I did the full reset , cleaned the internal battery to make sure there was no goop left from paper , checked that it was set to solar , voltages , amps of battery , Wizbang on & set . then turned on the, load , combiner panels , POOF away it went after "wait 11 sec" .
1400 or so watts in 79V with output of 50-60 amps as the voltage came up 26.* in bulk .. I went back in 30 mins , I had heard the cooling fans cycle so just to recheck , RESTING !!!
Today the same thing , full sun on all 8 panels , pv volts 80 + something watts =0000 battery 24.4Vdc RESTING , even after 5 mins , do a reboot , Poof it's awake and working , 65 amps (limited from my setting till i see what the batteries are like) voltage on the rise , 10 mins later I check and it's resting with a voltage of 24.5..
Im back on the charger for the night . Checking against my other classic , same 1821,1849 but with the MIDnight BTS , Second Array same panels of 4 in parallel for 12 V Classic150 , it's getting overcast & grey but still in float battery 100% green light , and floating to resting when the sun went down.
I was trying to get all the equipment the same , I will install a MS controller because the Kids have been moved on to replace some MS15 MPPT units , I hate going backwards.
I have checked Solar, on, & most settings against the 12 volt classic , I have set it to P&O legacy for tomorrow morning , but if I see resting anymore , Palliative care it is.

The BTS is from Magnacharge 100 ohm that was stated , that it was the only unit to be used that came with this Classic , PITA Bough a bunch , but looking to RMA and try again. ALL THE SAME ! Im 20 mins from my house in Smoky Point WA 2 Arlington ,4 Classics 2 lights & one is different ??? What's that about ?
Checking under temps & readings between the 12 V classic & the 24V Classic that are 30m /90 feet apart , they seem the same in temp C .
I might try that tomorrow , but I get windows of light. and testing is short . Soon the sun will be low , so the hr's shorten.

VMM = Vulcan Mind Meld (Mr Spock, Star Trek) = Factory Reset , where you press the < and > soft keys on the MNGP and while holding them turn on the battery and PV power which initiates a factory reset that should retain your original settings
VMM search on this forum = http://midniteforum.com/index.php?topic=1930.msg17773#msg17773

I haven't adjusted much of the factory settings , but three days ago , I did the full reset ,
VT
And since twice , just to see the same , start & fail of continuous charging .
DONE TWICE .
I have a replacement for tomorrow if the legacy is another flop .
Edit Add:
Nov 7 2014 08:40 12 volt unit has 34pv volts , in bulk stage 4.1 amp into batts & batts @ 13V , This new 24V Classic system in Legacy has been resting still with 82 PV volt battery @ 24V rest is 0000 watts & not an Amp.
I will unhook the BTS just for jiggles.
VT
I had one CC that reverted from its settings for a 24V system to (thinking it was hooked up) to a 12 V battery. I found the battery sitting there discharged to 8.x V, PV coming in and no charging going on.
I found this anomaly by scrolling through ALL the settings and I could not get it to go away till I did a FW upgrade and then a VMM and then reset the V to 24 and another VMM...???
hth
Well im not jiggling now , Un hook the Magnum BTS CLICK , into Bulk , numbers are low but I only have daylight , sun is just starting to reach them.
In the back of this classic (inside bottom it states ONLY TO USE A 100K BTS) and with the note inside & under the screen , it also stated this..
What gives Midnight ?
Whats the restance of your blue stick on square BTS ?
VT
Thanks WB , for your intrest also , I have NEW Classic with the latest FW & I have done that VMM and went thru the steps of picking voltage etc after, Just like it was new.
Friggin BTS was the stickler on mine so it seemed.
I do remember someone on Naws forum asking about always sleeping / resting also ..
Don't think I'll buy the rest of my classics now, need all to be the same .
VT
Oh and thanks for suggestion DgD , go buy a lotto ticket 8)
I had great sun harvesting today , Im almost full , a few more grey days or one more bright on Ill be back up on this battery pack . went from say 5 amps with a daylight from 7:30 am from disconnection of the BTS from Magnum in the classic to 65 amps (set limit ) with fans on at 11:30 ..
GREAT !!
Four days of WTH !!!!!??????
Tomorrow I'll do ohm readings of the telco BTS .. After getting the "click " and seeing a harvest , I needed to get to my real daily job .
Thanks for the replys Gents , & the beer fridge is always FULL .
VT
Took a telco receiver / wall unit to have the plug for ez access on the midnight 6 pinout and the 4 pinout . blue midnight I got readings , but 6 wires , didn't understand since i have no schematic on the voodoo , the friggin magnum had zero ohms , so I cut the telco off , then I had readings , plug was shorted internally , recriminated & reread . I didn't have enough time to complete, life took me away & i started @ 06:15 so I had "my" time :-)
VT
did a BTS search and here is one that may help ...http://midniteforum.com/index.php?topic=1985.msg18813#msg18813, with a bit of tech info.

Really ? If you are that close to us then you can just come on down here to Midnite and we'll
fix you right up !
boB
Will do Bob , Back in the smokey Nov 19-25 .
I will post pictures of the BTS repair & plug . Didn't take the Camera with me this AM , Tea cup was more important I guess.
Thanks Wbranch , I'll check in a few days , I have a few Midnight BTS & Cat6e plugs & crimps , I'll take pix & measure the units. I took the Magnum apart & diagnosed it out . Magnum is using a 4 telly wire .
So far if the sun is out tomorrow , the Classic should be working , I had 6 days off resting , my window is 3 hrs of sun this part of the year.
VT
We can just change your Classic back to original Midnite BTS status while your here and give you a new BTS at the same time.
I'm surprised that we did hear of a couple (few ?) bad Magnum BTS's that would short one of the lines to the battery terminal.
I had not heard of that before we used a bunch of them.
boB
Bob I'll Call Monday , It will look strange incoming number from Sat phone . Just to make sure I bring all the correct bits. I don't need another BTS , I have a few spares .
VT
CDN-VT
I got your voicemail.
The Magnum BTS is 100K and the MidNite BTS is 10K (boB will correct me if I am wrong)
If you where to bring it in we could comvert it back to a Midnite BTS or we can send you a Magnum BTS although it sounds like you found the fault.
If you need to call for boB best thing to do is push 5 at the main number and ask for boB. Or email him bob@midnitesolar.com
First shot is the inside of the Classic
Second shot it the Magnum BTS opened , telco wire crimp end cut & ohm & continuity checked .
Third Shot is the open green wire was touching the metal base bolt to a battery stud
Fourth is original bad crimp telco installed & all shorted to try the fans run with max battery temp .
So is the base from the light the same as the classic full ?
I ask because I'll just swap this Classic into a follow me light on the new upcoming Array & use a light base with this midnight front panel . If this 100K BTS has been reduced into a lite & follow me , I don't need the BTS on this 100k unit.
The Lite is regular Blue Midnight ,10 Ohm as I measured it @ 0 Celsius .
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Im thinking the Green wire from the shorted magnum to base gave power into the Classic ,This had me in resting always after 1o mins or so, plus the crimp on the telco was poor , yellow had no conductivity.Yellow & black wire Pin 2 & 5 were same potential from the picture,but bad crimp on pin 2 & a power potential . Glad it didn't LET THE smoke out on a new Classic.
VT
First shot , classic with a midnight BTS use , Way Off
Second shot After I repaired the Magnum BTS with a new crimp & heat shrink the thermistor , covered in SDG paste & reassembled .
Crimps
Shorted BTS jack , Classic screen
EDIT : The last pix is of the telco plug & the plugs wired all connected to put the classic into this :
