Hi folks,
I've got a couple/three questions:
We have two Classic 250s on our wind system. The first one grabs the first 40+ amps (~2.5 kW), then the second one picks up higher loading. The latter wakes about 85Vin and starts to contribute near 100 Vin. In looking at the log data I’ve noticed that the Peak (High Vpv) voltage is always higher on the second unit. I assume this is logical since the first one is loaded heavier, and often the second unit is seeing briefly higher, but shorter duration, instantaneous pulses of power? At rest they appear to be close; the battery voltage is nearly the same and the “IN†voltage might be ~70% of that value, so it doesn't appear to be a calibration/synch issue.
And, I'm looking forward to a few days off at the end of the month when I hope to do firmware updates. Am I correct that REV 1849, 04/21/14 is the latest version?
Lastly, while I printed off all the instructions, I've yet to do a firmware update. We're also new to Windows 8 (8.1 now). I saw awhile back where someone was bemoaning the difficulty of updating with Windows 8. At times I've found things to be downright frustrating compared to Windows 7, but this may largely be to the fact it is new, and different (and I think they intentionally hide things >:() I just want to avoid any self-inflicted, and unnecessary, pain and suffering. I could probably borrow another laptop (with 7). Have folks here updated with Windows 8.1 without significant issues?
Thanks for any help.

There is not problem with using Win8 as long as you follow the Midnite instructions for updating firmware with win8 and follow the order exactly. If you do thing out of order you may have issues.
It has to do with loading the usb to serial driver in win8 because it is not a MS signed driver. So Win8 will try to stop you from loading it. And follow the instruction in the order they are shown or you may have problems. Once the driver is load on your laptop you will not have to do that part the next time.
:)
That being said (by Rest Home), if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
If the Classic's firmware is many years old, then "maybe" update...
Wind has been working pretty well for quite a while now.
The overlap you are doing with the two Classics is the way to go for now...
Until we get wind curves to follow using Follow Me which I would also like to do.

Thanks for the comments.
Our Classics are "older"; s/n# CL00415 & CL00418. We had them for quite awhile before they actually got installed though, so, I'd sent them back for MS updates ~11/22/13 before they were installed.
They are working great, except that the mymidnite data has not updated for many months now. I get a message that says the Classic has not been connected to in over 2-weeks, check network communications & consider a firmware update. The local app is fine, so I'd assumed that I needed the firmware update - but, does this suggest an unrelated problem?

I'd meant to note the firmware version of our Classics:
1370: 04/08/13
1401: 06/08/13
Rev: M/ D/YEAR
Okay, I also just noticed that "Enable data logging" was unchecked on the local app settings. (It couldn't be that easy, right)?
Looking thru some of the related FAQ's:
1) Version 1401 should work.
2) Could try enabling A-RST feature. Found this in "tweaks"; now enabled.
3) Make sure that the D2/MM/DNS Override value is set to 0.0.0.0 - Where is this?
If the D2/MM/DNS Override is set to 0.0.0.0 and the unit still isn't dialing in then change it to 98.129.247.45
If you are looking to use My Midnite you really need the latest firmware on the website for that.

Success!

Well, it says 1401 or better should work, so I'd assumed that was the case (though it had worked when I first set things up).
After reading thru the FAQs, I found a couple things to try though. I enabled the A-RST in the tweaks menu, and I checked the enable data logging box on the local app. Web access was already enabled in the "net" menu.
I'm not sure which one worked - I suspect the A-RST - but it is working fine now. So, thanks.
Our second unit just needs a CAT5 (run, but not) connected. ~ks
