Title: classic output breaker sizing
Post by: ralph day on May 04, 2015, 02:04:32 PM
Hi
I'm now installing a clipper for my new Bergey XL1 (need more peace of mind).  The old SWWP H80 turbine had a 60amp dc output breaker on the main battery disconnect panel and I'm wondering if the output of the Classic/Bergey combination leaves that undersized?

The wind curve for the Bergey XL1 48volt on the Classic shows the max output to be 63 amps at 240 volts (turbine output/classic input?).  Will the Classic 250 be ok with a 60amp output breaker or should I upsize to 80amps?  The max voltage in has already hit 260 during a gust.

Any thoughts or opinions appreciated.
