Title: alphagen dcx3000 for charging
Post by: new2PV on May 12, 2015, 08:36:28 AM
Could you use this generator to charge a 48 volt battery bank?  Could you connect it to a classic 150.  Would it damage the inverter?

Specs below?

My first guess is NO, it won't work.  Even wired directly to the batteries.

A 48V telcom DC power source, does not have the 60V output needed to recharge 48V batteries, you need a higher voltage than the battery, to push power into the battery.

The unit is designed to maintain the batteries, not charge them.  In an emergency situation you would have power and not deplete your batteries, but they wont get charged either.
