Title: Removing display form Classic?
Post by: Brlux on June 28, 2015, 05:35:01 PM
I was initially planing to go with a classic lite and a Classic Graphics Panel for mounting inside.

If I got a standard Classic could I easily remove it's display panel for mounting inside. I am guessing I would have to plug the hole with something?

Thanks

Hi Brlux,

Yes,  the Classic display -- the MNGP  --  is easily removable,  and remoteable.

There is a practical cable length limit,  but believe that this limit of about 100 ft/ 33-ish M.

There is a Dummy Display available:

Here is a short blurb on the remote cable pinouts,  and construction:

Do not know where you are located,  but Northern Arizona Wind & Sun used to carry them,  but have not seen them there,  recently.

Yes I remote mounted mine inside using a long telephone cable - the kind with the six pin plug . That cable must be 20 feet long - just guessing.   I just stuffed a piece of rag in the hole where the cord came out of the case - to keep the bugs  out - though plastic or foil or putty would  work too and be a bit nicer !
