Title: Windows 8 - Firmware update
Post by: Rejuvenation Farm on July 26, 2015, 04:17:09 PM
I have (2) C-150's, each running a different firmware version.  I would like to update the firmware on both controllers so i can enable FollowMe.  Are there step by step instructions for conducting this update?  Have seen reference to Win 8 instructions on this forum but cannot seem to locate them.  I tried doing the update on one of my controllers using the instructions on the update, but got the dreaded Com 8 error right off the bat.  Thanks in advance.

my best advice is to read a thread I started last year about the same issue...  I repeat one important fact.....  you have to wait until the Classic and your PC finish every action...

Hi Rejuvenation..,

Here is a Link to the Instructions for Updating Classics using Win 8 and 8.1:
http://www.midnitesolar.com/firmwareReport.php?firmware_ID=9&firmwareProduct_ID=1&act=edit

At the bottom of this page,  there are selections for different Win Operating systems,  choose the one that applies to your computer  (of course).

These Instructions are on the MidNite Solar site,  > Software  >Classic & Classic Lite (or similar wording).

You MUST configure the computer that will be used to do the Updates to use Com8.  And you will want to always use that same computer for updates,  or follow the correct Instructions to configure the different computer  for the operating system that it uses.

Generally,  the Instructions must be followed exactly.  Otherwise you will always get a Com8 Error,   IIRC.

Good Luck,   Vic

I am happy to report that my 150's are both updated!  I had to switch the cables a couple of times, but once they connected - the updates went through pretty quick.  Thanks for all of the info.
