Title: Kid production numbers?
Post by: kaipo_boy on August 10, 2015, 12:22:30 AM
Hello, fairly new to solar and have had my Kid in place a couple of months now.
In the last 'status' screen, it will give production numbers; in my area (hawaii) I normally get around 2kwh and close to 100Ahr.  I understand that this is 2 kilo-watt hours and 100 Amp-hours, but are these figures what the panels have produced and passed into the charge controller, or what the charge controller has sent into the batteries?

My system is small, 3x285w panels and 4x6v Interstate GC2 batteries. But I have a fridge and freezer hooked up to the batteries via a Cotek 1.5kw inverter and they draw power as needed during the charging period in the day. Is the Kid capable of distinguishing the power it sends to the batteries for charging? as opposed to the power sent to the inverter during the daytime.  If so, is that amount reflected in the production figures above?

thanks in advance for any help,
walt

Hi Walt,

The Production numbers are the sum of what went into the batteries to charge them,  plus a total of all of the loads on the inverter (plus any direct DC-connected loads on the batteries).

This Production is what the KID has sent toward the batteries,  and was used by the battery to charge it,  and the inverter and its loads.

The PVs need to produce somewhat more power due to losses in the CC,  wiring,  etc.

Does this answer your question?   Vic

No

Maybe.

its actually the energy output from the controller.
The controller doesn't know if it ends up in the battery or consumed by the inverter.
if you install a WBjr then the KID can show the energy in and out of the battery
