Title: Remote Display options - Classic 150
Post by: gkerlin on August 25, 2015, 08:47:40 AM
I'm a new owner of a classic 150.   I'm installing it in a Motorhome.

I'm my previous RV I had a Trimetric with a remote display mounted inside which allowed me to view and control the basic operations.   It was networked as well but I preferred the panel mounted display which was located with my other monitors.

I'm not certain of the options for remote monitoring with the Classic.   Per the manual it looks like I'd have to buy another display (same as is currently on the classic). That's a fairly expensive option.

I realize that the local app is an option, but that means another WAP or network cabling etc.

My question is - could I use the current display remotely and instead cover up the hole where the display was?  If so - would I plug the display into the slave/out connection?

Hi gherkin,
Yes that's exactly what I did. You can purchase a dummy blanking display from Midnite Solar or their didtributers to fill in the opening left in the top cover when you remove the display unit. You then just use a long 6 pin phone cable that plugs into the classic and dispaly where the current 6" blue cable does.
The classic is a great product. Enjoy!
